FAQ

Pawn Loans

Q1: What items can I pawn?

A1: You can generally pawn anything of value, including precious metals like gold and platinum, luxury goods (bags, watches, jewelry, etc.), gemstones, electronics, musical instruments, and more.

Q2: Where are pawned items stored?

A2: Your items are safely stored in our climate-controlled vault, which maintains optimal temperature and humidity 24/7/365. This facility is designed and operated under the guidance of the Tochigi Prefectural Public Safety Commission, ensuring top-notch security. You can rest assured that your items are in good hands.

Q3: What do I need to pawn an item?

A3: You will need the item you wish to pawn and a valid form of identification (driver license, health insurance card, passport, My Number card, etc.). Please note that minors cannot use our services.

Q4: How is the appraisal conducted?

A4: We determine the loan value based on the item’s condition, market price, and demand. Appraisals are free of charge. The pawn loan amount is typically around 90% of the outright purchase price.

Q5: How long is the pawn loan period?

A5: You can essentially keep your item pawned indefinitely as long as you continue to pay the interest and renew the loan agreement. However, if interest payments are overdue for more than three months, the item will be forfeited (and you will not be able to retrieve it).

Q6: How much is the interest?

A6: The interest rate depends on the loan amount but is capped by law. Please see here for details.

Q7: What does forfeiture mean?

A7: Interest accrues monthly after the pawn agreement is signed. If interest payments are overdue for more than three months, the item is forfeited, and ownership transfers to our store. However, if you choose to forfeit the item, you are no longer obligated to pay the loan principal or any accrued interest.

Q8: I lost my pawn ticket.

A8: You can redeem your item with a valid form of identification. However, if you lose your pawn ticket, please contact us immediately.

Selling Items

Q1: Do you also buy items outright?

A1: Yes, absolutely. We offer the highest possible prices.

Q2: Do you buy broken items?

A2: Yes, we do. For precious metals such as rings, necklaces, earrings, and bracelets, we can estimate the value based on purity and weight. Even if the purity is unknown, we can assess it for you, so please feel free to bring your items in.

Q3:  What do I need to sell an item?

A3: You’ll need the item you wish to sell and a valid form of identification (driver’s license, health insurance card, passport, My Number card, etc.). Please note that minors cannot use our services.

Q1: Why can Yamasichi offer such high prices?

A1: Simply put, our operating costs are minimal. We don’t have the usual expenses of pawn shops and secondhand stores, like franchise royalties or rent. We own our building and operate independently. This allows us to pass the savings on to our customers. We always offer the best price possible, right from the start.
